Ouma se Huis is situated next to the N10 in Grootdrink, between Groblershoop (45km) and Upington (75km), on route from the Eastern Cape or Free State to Namibia, Kgalagadi and Namakwaland. Enjoy a relaxed farm stay in this, comfortable, newly renovated old farmhouse. Ideal for a family and friends getaway, or overnight stay for tourists. Although self catering, meals can also be served on prior arrangement. Accommodation features: All rooms with ceiling fans. Extra bed or cot available for babies and children under five. Bedding and towels are supplied. TV in the lounge. Well equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer, electric stove, microwave and a wood stove for cosy gatherings in the cold winter evenings. Outside braai facilities in the lush garden. Enough fire wood available. Farm products for sale when available, eg. Eggs, home baked bread, jams, honey, vegetables. Large veranda to relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. House accessible for wheel chairs. Activities and interests: Canoe and fish in the Orange river, about 800meters from the house. Have a picnic under the trees on the banks of the river. Within a radius of 10km of Grootdrink you can explore a hiking trail including a Bushman cave. Experience a 4x4 route next to the river. Within 30km you can go on a game drive on one of the two game farms on both sides of the river. Horse riding, star gazing and bird watching. Its also an ideal place to relax and do very little!

Grootdrink

The small Northern Cape town of Grootdrink (Big Drink) lies about seventy kilometers to the east of Upington, and somewhat surprising to many, is well known as being the centre of wine production in the Northern Cape. Wine is produced along between three and four hundred kilometers of the Orange River between Prieska and Augrabies. The name is not so much an invitation to heavy wine drinkers as to the availability of water, for wineries in the area relies almost entirely on irrigation from the river. Altogether, 4500 hectares of vineyards, both for wine and grape juice production purposes, are cultivated and under irrigation.

The Orange River, also known as the "Great Gariep", has been winding its way through this region's sun-drenched landscape for eons. The wine grapes of the region originate from more than 700 producers all along the riverbanks. The most common cultivars found along the river are colombar, chenin blanc, chardonnay, ruby cabernet, pinotage, merlot, shiraz, petit verdot, cabernet sauvignon, red and white muscadel.

The property (you) must offer the 15% saving to all verified members
Verification is done automatically at the time of an enquiry. It is at the property’s discretion whether to offer the saving for a telephonic enquiry. (As you have no means to verify the membership number, it is advisable to get them to do a formal enquiry so they can be verified).
If the property is currently running a "Special" greater than 15% then the "Special" price will apply. (No further savings needs to be offered). EXCEPT in the case where the "Special" is lower than 15%. In that case the 15% will apply.
Example: A property offering a 10% discount, must offer an additional 5% discount to valid members - so they get a total 15% saving.
